Requirement C

C

A ‘C’ course is a methods of analysis course.

The Urban Studies ‘C’ course is URBS UN3200 — GIS Methods and Case Studies. It is a limited enrollment course, with Urban Studies majors given preference over non-majors, and seniors given preference over juniors. You must attend the first class session to secure your position on the roster.

Many other departments offer quantitative analysis courses that fulfill Requirement C, including:

  • Economics
  • Environment and Sustainability
  • Political Science
  • Sociology

Guidelines:

  • You are required to take at least one ‘C’ course.
  • To help you plan your schedule, the Urban Studies program publishes a list of all known ‘C’ courses being offered each semester on this website.

This list is always subject to change. If you see a new urban course being offered, or a course that has been accidentally left out, email urban@barnard.edu and the Director will determine whether it should be added to the list.

  • On double-counting:

Barnard College students can double-count their 'C' course toward their specialization.

Columbia University and General Studies students cannot double-count.
